Hi.

Welcome to my blog! I share how I keep my sanity and have fun trying new craft projects!  I hope you find a little inspiration to get creative.

Why you should start a craft project NOW!

Why you should start a craft project NOW!

Do you ever get overwhelmed by the world around you?  Do you wish you could find something to help you escape?  I have that feeling a lot.  I think for me, it's mostly a lack of focus.  I am often distracted from the "real world" by what I would rather be doing.  Daydreaming is my favorite pass-time!  Don't get me wrong; I love my job! I'm a school counselor and helping high school students, figure out life, is my passion.  The downside of this job is no matter how much you like it there are days when you just need an escape.  The details can be overwhelming! There is always that one kid you can't get off your mind or that one email you forgot to answer. There is always something.  Everybody's life gets CRAZY at times, and we are all way too stressed!  Aren't we always looking for a way to relieve stress in our life?  In my family that's always been starting a project!  My mother crochets and my dad can make or fix just about anything.  These things are what they do to relieve stress. My mom makes beautiful afghans!  My dad has made some fantastic furniture!  I have tried to learn to crochet, but I've never had the patience to get it right.

I don't have one type of crafting that I like to do.  I tend to jump from project to project.  Part of the reason I started this blog is the help me finish some of my projects.  I have a Cricut which I use to make all kinds of things. Do you have one of these? I want the new Cricut Maker but now is not the time to spend the money.  I can't resist a sale on canvases at Michael's.  I have a bunch of them leaned up against a wall in my house waiting for the inspiration to hit.  Right now is probably the time I should say spending money is one of the not so good ways I deal with a stressful day!  I love fabric at Joann's, but I cannot sew.  Well, I try, but I'm NOT good. My aunt was trying to teach my cousin's and I to sew once. I made a little dress for one of their daughters. She was like three years old. She took one look at it and said, "I am not wearing that."  She was less than impressed with my skills!  My mother keeps trying to teach me, but I think it's the kind of thing that takes patience and focus.  I have neither!  Which is something that I need to work on for sure?   I have a few fabrics crafts I've made without sewing.  I love a glue gun!  I love to cook too! Cooking and baking are crafting.   The only problem with cooking and baking is not eating everything you make!  Wouldn't it be nice if the calories didn't count if you cooked the food yourself!  That would be the best!

I'm not a mommy, but I love to read Mommy blogs because for the most part that is where all the good crafts, recipes, home decorating and budgeting tips are.  These moms have fantastic information on all kinds of things. You don't have to be a mom or even a woman to find some interesting information there.  I wanted to start this site as a place to show people that crafting is a wonderful way to deal with stress and be creative. The things you make don't have to be perfect. It's not a competition! Though there are competitions out there if competing is for you.  Crafting is a creative way for you to express yourself. Life is stressful! We all need something to help us make it through. I definitely do!  I'm not all that talented and sometimes when things don't turn out perfect or don't look the way I want them to I give up. Which isn't a quality I like in myself! You don't have to be super talented to be creative!  I try every day to be better at not sweating the small stuff.  Imperfection is an important part of creativity.   I feel like finding some way to express yourself can make each day just a little bit better.
